Wooooooooo InshaAllah I'm going to be in the SOUUUUTH SIDE tomorrow bright and early: 9:00AM at the Maharaja Banquet hall for the Liberals!. Ohhhh... that means I have to get up soo early -- get up at 7am, leave house by 815am to be there by 900am. Wow, now that I think about it I actually haven't been deep south since last year at this time for Salma and Saira's birthday when all the girls went to Joey's. SubhanAllah how time flies.


Finally something different for a saturday morning.

Ferrari WHAT?!

OHHH my!!! ... on our way home, Sonia and I saw the NICEST yellow Ferrari parked in front of the neighbor's house... SO being the Siham that I am, I went out and took 5 pictures of it at different angles. I'll post the best shot when I have regained my tranquil state...

Fact I

I feel like it's Monday.

I really dislike when my naps were originally supposed to be only 45 mins but end up being 3.5 hours -- like today's.

Anyway, speaking of sleep... I am reading this very informative book called "More than 1000 Sunan Every Day and Night" and one of the topics I just read was about awakening from sleep.


FACT: When awakening from sleep, it is sunnah of the Prophet PBUH to perform the following


PROOF and/or REASON:

1. Wipe the effects of sleep from the face with your hands.

Imaam an-Nawawee and Ibn Hajar stated this wiping to be desirable based on the following

When the Messenger of Allah PBUH woke up, he would sit up and rub away the effects of sleep from his face with his hand.


2. Say the du'aa for waking up: (this is the english translation)

All praise is for Allah SWT who gave us life after death (ie. sleep) and to Him is the resurrection.


3. Use a siwaak

When the Prophet PBUH woke up from the night (sleep), he used to clean his mouth with a siwaak

4. Snuff water

When one of you wakes up from sleep, then snuff water three times. [And I found the following very interesting as I did not know of this] For indeed, the Shaytaan spends the night in the upper part of his nose. !!!


5. Wash both hands three times

When one of you wakes up from sleep, he must not dip his hand into a utensil until he washes it three times...

Congratulations, Felicidades, Félicitations, Alf mabrook Fatoush!

Reminiscing

Sunday March 18th, 2007. So the story goes: we had a bunch of dates which reminded me of Ramadan and how I used to break my fast with dates and milk, so I decided to put them on a dinner plate, take a picture and reminisce. :)
I miss how Qur'an used to be on almost every arab channel on satellite everyday for practically the whole day. I miss going to the masjid every night for taraweeh and prostrating in front of Allah (SWT), with the beautiful voice of the Imam and how he would be able to get deep into my heart with his khutbah and make my eyes fill up with tears of passion and determination.

Enjoy these pictures, creepers! I just felt like sharing some a my memories with you all.. and if you're a regular, I'm sure you notice that once in a while I like to put some pictures up of "Recollections". Personally, I absolutely adore photography and think it's an amazing way to express anything. I am a firm believer in the fact that a picture can say many, many things especially since there is a wide range of perspectives which you all use to look onto things. The beauty of experiencing different cultures, different cities and ways of life is beyond price.

I've become dumbfounded.

... dumbfounded to the point where I just downloaded a bunch of classical music by Mozart, Chopin and Beethoven. I think it's what I need right now. Inshallah you all have a great, productive and exhilarating weekend.

Marble Slab's cheesecake ice cream with strawberries and graham cracker pieces honestly is one of the best things discovered in the field of ice cream... I miss Heladeria Ibense in Melilla :( I was their #1 customer for 6 weeks. Oh dear yogur de fresa, how I love and miss your creaminess and sweet strawberry chunks. You were oh so smooth...

- "Unscented" Vaseline lotion actually turns out to be scented... ? Weird.
- Saher has been cool lately... she stays later at school :)

- this week has been busy busy busy alhamdulillah
- I crave sleep... not that I haven't been lately, but I just like the feeling
- the talk today on Environmental Crisis by Tim Weiss was very informative
- I absolutely cannot stand inconsiderate people

- I really should be doing laundry right now, but I am doing everything possible to avoid it
